1 ● Trunk shows in Florence, Tokyo, and New York City

Grand Hotel Minerva in Florence

Luxury outerwear maker Sartoria Melina Napoli will host a trunk show at the Grand Hotel Minerva in Florence, Italy starting tomorrow, Tuesday the 17th and Wednesday the 18th. You can see their beautiful jackets on Trunkville.

Camps de Luca

For three generations, Parisian Master Tailors Camps de Luca have been crafting bespoke suits and more. We’re lucky to have them come to New York City in July, from Friday the 18th through Sunday the 20th.

We’ll send out another reminder closer to the date, but you can see more on Trunkville. Go ahead and mark your calendars — and reach out to set an appointment.

Emiko Matsuda

Bespoke shoemaker Emiko Matsuda will be in Tokyo July 31st through August 4th, and then in New York City from October 30th through November 1st. Her NYC appointments will fill up fast; if you are interested in beautiful, handcrafted shoes, I recommend reaching out to her. You can see more photos and her contact info on Trunkville.

2 ● The best Italian restaurant in New York City (that you may already know about)

Give Altesi, on the corner of 64th and Madison, a try. The owner Paolo puts in incredible attention to detail, and it pays off. There are a few tables on the sidewalk that are one of the few places in the city where it’s pleasant to sit outside.

Paolo, on the right

Go on a balmy summer night. Order the tuna tartare (it’s always fresh, or he won’t serve it), a pasta (you can’t go wrong), and a bottle of Gavi. Strike up a conversation with Paolo and you’ll learn about things like which kinds of bread are appropriate to serve at which humidity levels. It’s a pleasure to experience a master at the height of his craft.

3 ● When will I ever learn to live in God

It turns out Bill Murray can sing.

See you next time.
