1 ● Upcoming Trunk Shows
September 29th to October 1st, bespoke trouser-maker Pommella Napoli is coming to New York. “The trousers are not an accessory to the jacket,” tailoring enthusiast Gianluca Migliarotti writes, “but a garment with its own personality.” A look through their gallery confirms the claim.
In October, Steed Bespoke Tailors begins a tour that brings them to Boston, New York City, Washington, DC, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Austin. Steed offers fully-bespoke, semi-bespoke, and made-to-measure options. Their Savile Row makers offer classic silhouettes cut to become your own.
Also in October, but with dates TBA, Vestificio comes to New York City. Founded by Laura Bachmeier, the Milan-based maker produces soft, lightweight suiting in the traditional Milanese style. Follow Laura on Trunkville to receive notification when she announces her NYC dates.
While we have you, we recently relaunched Trunkville with free, individual maker pages. We also now allow users to “follow” makers and get notified when makers a user follows announce new trunk shows nearby. You can make your account here to follow makers — or create your own shows if you are a maker yourself. Trunkville is and will always be 100% free.
2 ● Spotlight — Sartoria Vestificio
Laura Bachmeier is a bespoke tailor with 14 years of experience, currently running Sartoria Vestificio. She began her training in Frankfurt under master tailor Roland Thiessen before relocating to Milan in 2016, where she refined her craft under Italian master tailors and within high fashion houses. This diverse background has equipped her with a broad understanding of tailoring, spanning both menswear and womenswear.
Sartoria Vestificio’s approach is rooted in traditional Italian tailoring, with a focus on proportions and the golden ratio to achieve a balanced, timeless aesthetic. Bachmeier’s garments, crafted using traditional Milanese techniques, are noted for their lightweight structure and clean, comfortable drape. The emphasis is on precision and minimal reinforcement, offering a fit that combines style with ease of movement. While her work primarily focuses on men’s tailoring, Bachmeier also caters to women, providing bespoke pieces that reflect the same high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Laura is coming to New York City in early October — follow her on Trunkville to stay up to date.
3 ● Endnote — John Singer Sargent & William Carlos Williams
“Staircase in Capri” by John Singer Sargent
LOVE SONG by William Carlos Williams
Sweep the house clean,
hang fresh curtains
in the windows
put on a new dress
and come with me!
The elm is scattering
its little loaves
of sweet smells
from a white sky!
Who shall hear of us
in the time to come?
Let him say there was
a burst of fragrance
from black branches.
